【摘要】:Ambientmarinewatersgenerallycontainverylowconcentrationsoftoxicmetalsthatrequiresensitiveanalyticalmethods,suchasICP-MS,todetectandmeasurethemetalrsquo;concentrations.Duetothehighdissolvedsaltconcentrationspresentinseawater,samplepretreatmentisrequiredtoremovesignalsuppressionandsignificantpolyatomicinterferencesduetothematrixbothofwhichcompromisedetectionlimits.1.1Toxicelementsmaybepresentinambientwatersandmayenterthefoodchainviauptakebyplantsandanimals;theactualconcentrationsoftoxicmetalsareusuallysub-ng/mL.TheU.S.EPAhaspublisheditsWaterQualityStandardsintheU.S.FederalRegister40CFR131.36,Minimumrequirementsforwaterqualitystandardssubmission,Ch.I(7-1-00Edition),seeAnnex,.TheU.S.EPAhasalsodevelopedMethod1640tomeettheserequirements,seeAnnex,.1.2InductivelyCoupledPlasmaMassSpectroscopy(ICP-MS)isatechniquewithsufficientsensitivitytoroutinelymeasuretoxicelementsinambientwaters,bothfreshandsaline(TestMethodD5673).HoweversalineandhardwatermatricesposeanalyticalchallengesfordirectmultielementanalysisbyICP-MSattherequiredsub-ng/mLlevels.1.3ThisstandardpracticedescribesamethodusedtopreparewatersamplesforsubsequentmultielementanalysisusingICP-MS.Thepracticeisapplicabletoseawaterandfreshwatermatrices,whichmaybefilteredordigested.SamplespreparedbythismethodhavebeenanalyzedbyICP-MSfortheelementslistedinAnnex,TableA1.3).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
